Ivan Aivazovsky was a Russian Romantic painter, considered one of the greatest marine artists in history. He was born on July 17, 1817, in Feodosia, Crimea, which was then part of the Russian Empire. Aivazovsky's works primarily focused on seascapes, naval battles, and coastal scenes.

Aivazovsky showed exceptional artistic talent at an early age, and he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia.
